Recital at St. Mark's, San Antonio
Lenten organ recital on the beautiful Austin-Kegg pipe organ at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in San Antonio, TX. March 26 at 3:30 p.m.
Recital at St. Thomas 5th Avenue
Recital on the stunning Taylor & Boody and Dobson organs of St. Thomas Church in New York City. May 28 at 5:15 p.m. Featuring music of Franck, Widor, and Kristina Arakelyan.
Recital at Piccolo Spoleto L'Organo Fesitval
Closing the 2023 festival with the rousing and brilliant Finale from Widor’s 8th Symphony, Dr. Margaret Harper brings the series to a close on the Bedient organ at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Friday June 9th at 10 am, with a French program on Charleston’s most Gallic organ, complete with ventils, brilliant reeds, flutes harmoniques, voix humaine, and the most luxurious acoustic in the Holy City. Other works on the program include music of Boëly, Franck, and the transcendent virtuoso Jeanne Demessieux. This stunning combination of instrument, artist, acoustic and repertoire is sure to round out the 2023 L’Organo Series in thrilling style.
Pipe Organ Encounter
Margaret Harper will teach on the faculty of this summer's Pipe Organ Encounter in Illinois. Pipe Organ Encounters (POE) are a six-day "summer camp" designed to introduce the organ to young musicians aged 13–18. Participants receive private instruction, learn about the construction and mechanics of pipe organs, perform on world-class instruments, and are introduced to careers in music.
